The characteristics of dynamic transmission and reflection holograms are considered theoretically. It is shown, using the specific example of holograms recorded in electrooptic LiNbO3 crystals, that going over to reflection geometry greatly improves the light-beam conversion characteristics (the gain exceeds 70 cm−1 and is independent of the spatial frequency). It is shown that the period of a recorded holographic grating can be varied by an external electric field.
