Abstract

The positive-energy spectrum of the hydrogen atom in a magnetic field is deduced by making use of the complex-rotation method combined with Sturmian-type expansions. This yields the energies and widths of the resonances especially for fields of atomic interest. Accidental destructive interference generates ultranarrow resonances above the ionization threshold as experimentally observed.
