Abstract Green oxidation of inedible biomass-based 2-furaldehyde (furfural) to succinic acid (SA), one of the most important building blocks, was successfully achieved using Amberlyst-15 as a reusable solid acid catalyst in water at 353 K in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
