Solvent effects on the electronic spectra of some 2,2′-bipyridyl palladium(<scp>II</scp>) and platinum(<scp>II</scp>) complexes

Abstract

Solvent effects on the electronic spectra of the complexes [Pt(bipy)X2](bipy = 2,2′-bipyridyl; X = Cl, Br, or I), [Pd(bipy)Cl2], and [Pt(bipy)(py)2]2+(py = pyridine) are reported and correlated with the ET parameters of the solvents. The assignments of the electronic spectra are discussed.
