Electron distribution functions and inelastic scattering in one-and two-dimensional structures

Abstract

The author derives a matrical equation giving the electron distribution functions in the different sub-bands encountered in one- and two-dimensional quantum wells. He takes account properly of inelastic scattering and inter-sub-band transitions. He deduces an analytical result for the conductivity limited by different electron-photon mechanisms, and show that for certain special cases a relaxation time may be defined.
