Abstract

Cadmium sulfide films electrodeposited from aqueous diethylene glycol solutions containing elemental sulfur, and either cadmium chloride or cadmium perchlorate have been characterized with respect to both structural and electrical properties. Significant differences have been found between samples grown from solutions containing chloride ions and those grown from solutions containing perchlorate ions. The properties of the CdS films are discussed with respect to their potential use in photovoltaic cells.
