Homocysteine and other vascular risk factors in patients with phenylketonuria on a diet

Abstract

PKU patients on a strict diet had low vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folate levels resulting in moderate hyperhomocysteinaemia. The evaluation of these vitamins at short intervals and their supplementation could be an early measure in the prevention of CAD.
