Unifying trends and opportunities in global artificial reef research, including evaluation

Abstract

Research and development concerning marine artificial reefs and challenges in the field are reviewed. Purposes are: (a) to summarize global applications of artificial reef technology; (b) to provide limited review of trends in research, the level of evaluation of reefs specifically concerning their performance toward attainment of objectives; and (c) to propose opportunities for research, data synthesis, and training.
