Abstract The polariton theory is applied to the calculation of reflectivity, absorption, and resonant luminescence spectra in the region of Γ(3/2) exciton band in crystalline xenon. Agreement with experimental curves is achieved when the value of deformation potential C = (1.3 ± 0.2) eV is used. Approximately the same value is independently determined for C by the exciton self‐trapping barrier theory.
