BrDI&soHNAL 1279 "calcium " appeared within a few days of the administra- tion of mercury. This is in marked contrast with our experience in producing experimental nephrocalcinosis, which was usually found to take 10 to 14 days. Since von Kossa's stain for calcium is not specific it is possible that at least some of the stainable "calcium" reported by these authors was in fact a phosphate mercury complex.
