Theoretical considerations were made on an amorphous solar cell, called the “multi-bandgap structure”, with a realistic model. It is shown that the theoretical limit efficiency of the three-bandgap amorphous solar cell is estimated to be 24% by using materials which have optical bandgaps of 2.0 eV, 1.7 eV, and 1.45 eV. The materials of this structure were also considered, and the possibility of multi-bandgap amorphous solar cells was shown.
