Submillimeter-Wave Spectra of HCl and HBr

The $J=0\ensuremath{\rightarrow}1$ transitions of HCl and HBr have been measured in the wavelength regions of 0.59 and 0.48 mm, respectively. These measurements led to the following values of molecular constants: for H${\mathrm{Cl}}^{35}$, ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{0}=625919.24\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.52$ Mc/sec, $eQq=63.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.8$ Mc/sec, ${C}_{I}\ensuremath{\approx}0$, ${B}_{0}=312991.30\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.26$ Mc/sec, ${B}_{e}=317587$ Mc/sec, ${r}_{0}={1.2838}_{7}$ \AA{}, ${r}_{e}={1.2745}_{5}$ \AA{}; for H${\mathrm{Br}}^{79}$, ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{0}=500675.24\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.52$ Mc/sec, $eQq=535.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4$ Mc/sec, ${C}_{I}=0.29\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.20$ Mc/sec, ${B}_{0}=250360.78\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13$ Mc/sec, ${B}_{e}=253790$ Mc/sec, ${r}_{0}={1.4243}_{9}$ \AA{}, ${r}_{e}={1.4146}_{0}$\AA{}; and for H${\mathrm{Br}}^{81}$, ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{0}=500519.41\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.26$ Mc/sec, $eQq=447.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4$ Mc/sec, ${C}_{I}=0.31\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.20$ Mc/sec, ${B}_{0}=250282.88\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13$ Mc/sec, ${B}_{e}=253710$ Mc/sec, ${r}_{0}={1.4140}_{2}$ \AA{}, ${r}_{e}={1.4146}_{0}$ \AA{}.
