Abstract The sound absorption of liquid acetic acid has been measured in the frequency range between 0.3 to 1.5 GHz. In this frequency range a relaxation step has been found with a relaxation frequency of about 700 MHz. The molecular processes which possibly cause the measured acoustical relaxation are discussed.
