Abstract

On the base of results from the analysis of known the Judd-Ofelt expression for the line intensities of TR3+ ion spectra, some simple and quite reliable determination methods are given for the luminescent branching ratio connected with the radiative 4F3/2 → 4IJ transition and the redistribution of the intensities between the bands in the absorption spectra 4I9/2 → ∣4f3 [S, L], J〉 of Nd3+ ions in cubic crystals. In these methods intensity parameters Ω4/Ω6 = X are used as the working parameter. This parameter can serve as the convenient characteristics of the “spectroscopic quality” for laser media. Dependences are obtained among the inter-manifold luminescence branching ratios βiΣ(X). The methods proposed are illustrated by the results of the measurements of about twenty crystals doped with Nd3+ ions. [Russian Text Ignored].
