Abstract A novel method of continuous free flow electrophoresis in an alternating electric field with a variable buffer flow is proposed as a basis for continuous separation of biomolecules. A model is developed to evaluate the migration of charged particles as they move with the buffer flow. Numerical calculations on the trajectory and dispersion are presented for particles with different electrophoretic mobilities.
