Synopsis In this paper it is shown that the tensile creep behaviour of concrete cannot be explained fully in terms of the seepage hypothesis of creep. Accordingly a mechanism of creep based upon seepage but modified by time-dependent micro cracking is proposed. This mechanism can provide an explanation for the experimental results available.
