Abstract A simple one pot method, involving sequential Knoevenagel condensation of Meldrum's acid with aromatic aldehydes, conjugate reduction of ylidene Meldrum's acid using sodium borohydride followed by alkylation, to prepare mixed dialkylated derivatives of Meldrum's acid is described.
