Cigarette Smoking and Risk of Clinically Overt Thyroid Disease

Abstract

Smoking is associated with an increased risk of developing clinically overt thyroid disease. Furthermore, our data suggest that cumulative cigarette consumption is a risk factor, most pronounced in autoimmune thyroid disease.
