Standardised technique for determining the centre of gravity of body and limb segments of horses

Abstract

Summary A standardised method of disarticulating the equine cadaver into 19 segments and determining the centre of gravity of each segment is described. The location of the segment centre of gravity and total body centre of gravity of three horses was determined using these methods. The mathematical procedure (algorithm) required for the determination of the total body centre of gravity from film analysis is presented.
