Abstract Laminar burning velocities of stoichiometric mixtures of air and methane with ethane or propane additives have been determined from pressure measurements in a spherical chamber following central ignition. The burning velocities were determined by two methods and correlated in a form in which Sμ0, α and β are dependent on additive concentration and T0 and P0 are initial values of pressure (in the range 1-8 atm) and temperature (300 K). The correlation range extends to approximately 4000 kPa and 500K
