Towards a Hamilton–Jacobi theory for nonholonomic mechanical systems

Abstract

In this paper we obtain a Hamilton-Jacobi theory for nonholonomic
\nmechanical systems. The results are applied to a large class of nonholonomic
\nmechanical systems, the so-called ˇCaplygin systems.
