Abstract

The magnetic susceptibility of chromium has been measured from -195\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C to 1440\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C and is found to increase from 3.42\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\ensuremath{-}6}$ to approximately 4.30\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\ensuremath{-}6}$ emu per gram at the highest temperature. A transition is recorded in the region of 1400\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C marked by a sharp increase in susceptibility and a temperature hysteresis.
