Hysteresis

Hysteresis is a phenomenon in which the state of a physical system depends not only on its current inputs but also on its history of past inputs, manifesting as a lag or memory effect between an applied force and the system's response, commonly observed in magnetic, capillary, thermal, and mechanical systems.
