Abstract

The charge transfer processes H + Al3+ → H+ + Al2+(2S and 2P), H + B2+ → H+ + B+(1P), H + Li2+ → H+ + Li+(3S and 1S) and H + Al2+ → H+ + Al+ are investigated using the Landau-Zener formula for the transition probability arising from the pseudo-crossing of the potential energy curves of the initial and final systems. These pseudo-crossings occur at nuclear separations of 3.34, 6.58, 11.1, 8.88, 20.9 and 5.29 atomic units respectively and the corresponding energy separations due to the interaction between the initial and final states are 5.18, 1.25, 5.69×10−3, 1.24×10−1, 2.12×10−6 and 1.54 eV. The cross sections associated with the six processes are calculated over a wide range of impact energies.
