Abstract

Odontogenic myxoma is a benign odontogenic tumour derived from the ectomesenchyme, known for its local aggressive nature. It is found almost exclusively in the jaws. It is rare in patients above 50 years of age. The presence of extensive inflammation and increased fibrous component can pose a diagnostic difficulty. We present a rare case of odontogenic myxoma in the mandible of a 55-year-old male patient with a brief review of pathogenesis, radiological features, diagnostic dilemmas and immunohistochemical aspects.
