An indirect mode-matching (IMM) solution to the problem of plane-wave scattering from a dielectric cylinder with N parallel eccentric cylindrical dielectric inclusions is presented. The cylindrical structure is infinitely long and the direction of incidence is normal to the cylinder axis. All cylinders may be lossy, but nonmagnetic, and they have circular cross-sections. The solution, being general in every other respect, is exact and concise. Two orthogonal polarisations, which represent E- and H-waves, are considered for the incident plane wave. Interest is mainly in the effect of the internal structure on far-field scattering. Numerical results are presented for up to three identical parallel nonoverlapping cylinders embedded into a cylindrical sheath.
