Testing the stability of stellar systems

Abstract

We describe a quick and flexible method, based on the adiabatic deformation of initial equilibrium models, for testing the stability of stellar systems. In a worked example, the method is used to study non-radial instabilities in a family of anisotropic isochrone spheres.
