Abstract

Optical hole-burning and optically detected nuclear magnetic resonance have been used to determine the hyperfine splitting in the ground, 7F0, and excited, 5D0, states of Eu3+ in the stoichiometric material KEu(WO4)2. In addition it is shown how the use of an applied RF field during hole-burning can greatly simplify a complex hole-burning spectrum.
