Visceral artery aneurysms occur most frequently in the splenic artery. Less commonly they involve the hepatic or superior mesenteric arteries. Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysms are rare, with only 22 previous cases recorded in the literature (Scheflan et al, 1977; Kadir et al, 1978). Pre-operative diagnosis by angiography was made in six of the above cases. An additional case of an inferior pancreatico-duodenal aneurysm occurring in a young woman presenting with abdominal pain is described. The diagnosis was made pre-operatively by selective superior mesenteric arteriography and confirmed at surgery.
