Synthesis of Marchand baluns using multilayer microstrip structures

Abstract

Abstract New equations and nomographs are derived for the synthesis of Marchand baluns using coupled‐line structures. These equations explicitly determine the coupled‐line parameters necessary to design Marchand baluns for specific load impedances and bandwidths. Practical MIC and MMIC circuit topologies are presented for realizing the difficult coupling parameters required by these baluns. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
