We have attempted to synthesize an oxadiazole compound which has ability of anion sensing and of fluorescent pattern construction. Organic soluble oxadiazole molecule with adjacent hydroxyphenyl groups for excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) was synthesized. Significant UV-vis absorption and fluorescence changes were observed upon addition of F−. UV-irradiation on the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film doped with oxadiazole compound in the presence of photoacid generator (PAG) induced novel fluorescence quenching-induced patterning.
