Abstract

HE mineral constituents of biological tis-T sues can be divided into two categories depending on their concentration. One group, the macroelements, such as sodium, potassium, and calcium, occur in tissue concentrations of milligrams per hundred grams. They have been studied for a number of years and many of their functions have been well established.
