A method for the fractionation of phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) extracted from Phaseolus vulgaris by chromatography on SE‐Sephadex C‐50 is described. The two lymphocyte‐stimulating substances obtained differ from each other in their chromatographic properties and their ability to agglutinate human blood cells. The procedure offers a simple method for the separation of lymphocyte‐stimulating and agglutinating substances in PHA.
