It has been known for over half a century that the thymus is in some way involved in myasthenia gravis. In recent years several other diseases have been found associated with, or developing after, the removal of a thymic tumor, including such seemingly diverse entities as erythroid hypoplastic (aregenerative) anemia, acquired idiopathic hypogammaglobulinemia, and Cushing's syndrome. Granulomatous myocarditis and polymyositis have also been reported with such a growth. The occurrence of a thymic neoplasm in association with these disorders
