Abstract

A New Synthesis of Cardenolides Starting with (triphenylphosphoranylidene)ketene ( 1 ) three steroids ( 4, 6 , and 7 ) with the necessary hydroxyketone side chain were transformed in high yields directly into the corresponding cardenolides ( 5, 8 , and 9 ).
