Beam-Foil Spectroscopy of Carbon in the Vacuum Ultraviolet

Abstract

Beam-foil spectra of the different carbon ions C II to C V have been studied between 300 Å and 1 300 Å in the energy range 0.4 MeV-2 MeV. Eleven new lines have been identified. The mean lives of numerous excited levels of C II, C III, C IV and C V have been measured and are compared with other experimental and theoretical data.
