Lithium treatment of manic-depressive disorder. Dosage and control.

Abstract

Therapeutic lithium doses for mania are approximately 50 mEq/day, and maintenance or prophylactic doses for recurrent manias and depressions are approximately 25 mEq/day. Patients must be examined carefully before lithium treatment and must be kept under clinical and laboratory control during treatment.
