Low Serum Biotinidase Activity in Children with Valproic Acid Monotherapy

Abstract

It is suggested that VPA impairs the liver mitochondrial function, resulting in a low biotinidase activity and or biotin deficiency. Biotin supplementation could restore some of the side effects of the drug.
