Abstract

This text is a compendium of summaries of our knowledge to the present in all aspects of endoscopic laser therapy. Each chapter was written by an expert with considerable experience. The chapters have sections on historical perspective, state-of-the-art methodology, and future directions. Most of the authors present the results of the many procedures discussed objectively through careful reviews of the literature and their own experience. The technical aspects of the procedures are presented with enough detail to be helpful guides as written, but the chapters are also well referenced, so that readers may obtain more information if they desire. There is a heavy emphasis on safety measures, which is a positive aspect of this book. The opening chapter on laser physics is extraordinarily well done. Though some of the equations are tough to digest, there is ample, easily readable text to guide the reader through them. This chapter is mandatory
