Abstract

Abstract Analyses of briquetted rock samples for trace elements were carried out utilizing experimental mass absorption coefficients computed by Ag Kα Compton scattered intensity. Matrix effect corrections were applied to characteristic lines shorter than λ = 1.743 (a wavelength corresponding to the absorption edge of iron) as well as, by knowing the iron contents, to characteristic lines occurring between the absorption edge of iron and calcium. The following trace elements were analysed: Sc, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Rb, Sr, Nb, Cs, Ba, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pb and Th. Data on 24 international standards of rocks are reported.
