The influence of multiple scattering of ions in the derivation of the ion spectrum from a Thomson ion spectrometer in a plasma focus discharge is analysed. It is found that the corrections introduced in the ion spectrum by this process change the spectral law with respect to the ion energy and the total number of ions inferred from a Thomson spectrometer register.
