New Combining Rule for Intermolecular Distances in Intermolecular Potential Functions

Abstract

A geometric mean combining rule is proposed for intermolecular distances in potential functions of the Mie–Lennard-Jones or Buckingham types. It is shown to have considerable advantages over the Lorentz rule of additive diameters.
