Abstract

<i>Surgery of Infants and Children</i>, edited by Oldham et al, is a major text that emphasizes the "scientific principles and practice" of pediatric surgery while presenting the most available information on the diagnosis and treatment of the wide spectrum of clinical conditions encountered in this age group. The principal editors have been joined by 149 contributing authors "substantially younger than tradition would suggest for a text of this sort." Their work encompasses 1834 pages, 18 major sections, and 104 chapters.
