Abstract The adsorption and conformation of the anti‐HIV drug AZT, and also thymine and 2′‐deoxythymidine, were studied on Ag colloids by surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy, showing that the conformational change induced by the adsorption on an Ag surface is similar to that induced by an alkaline pH, both related to deprotonation of the N‐3 atom leading to the C‐3′‐ endo conformer.
