Abstract

The physical and conceptual basis of a magnetic turbulence theory of thermal conduction in Tokamak is considered in detail. The physics of a new transport mechanism and the relationship between averages of equations and what is actually measured are elucidated. The authors show that this mechanism does not involve magnetic surface breaking or field line ergodisation, but does depend directly on the magnetic fluctuation level and the parallel electron thermal conductivity. As shown in earlier publications, there is reasonable agreement with experiment.
