Theory and numerical methods for the modelling of synthetic ropes

Abstract

Abstract The theory of synthetic rope modelling is outlined together with the numerical techniques and computational implementation. This theory is applicable to most linear twisted, braided and plaited structures and is readily applicable to compound linear structures such as hoses and multi‐function umbilical connections.
