Documentary Sources And Strategic Management Research<sup />

Abstract

The article focuses on documentary sources that are used in strategic management research and formulation of business policy in the United States. This segment of management theory supports the decision-making process with documentary evidence that provides longitudinal data for hypothesis testing. A comparison of the Form 10-K financial statement and the annual report shows that 10-K is a more complete source of data because it provides detailed information about finances, the availability of raw materials, status of property, legal status of the units, patent vulnerability and lawsuits pending, and the qualifications of top executives. The Securities Exchange Act of 1933 and 1934 are mentioned.
