Abstract A progressive right parietal lobe disorder charcterized by astereognosis and pseudoathetosis developed in a 57‐year‐old woman. Two years later, the patient began to show signs of intellectual deterioration. Biopsy of the right frontal lobe revealed numerous plaques and tangles. The patient's right parietal lobe dysfunction was probably the first manifestation of Alzhemer disease. On rare occasions, Alzhemier disease can present as a focal syndrome with findings referable to a localized area of maximal involvement.
