Abstract

Impedance data for electroded solid electrolytes in a frequency dispersion can be analysed, independent of the assumed distribution, by cross-correlating the distribution function of the time constants with a non-distributed series relaxing circuit in Fourier space. The method is illustrated by using synthetic data for up to three Cole-Cole distributed relaxations. Mean relaxation times differing by less than an order of magnitude can comfortably be resolved. Randomly distributed errors of 10% in the imaginary impedance and the linear frequency only increase the noise in Fourier space not the resolution.
