Abstract

The significance and limitations of the use of x-ray absorption energies in the determination of gamma-ray energies from beta-ray spectroscopy are discussed. A complete table of critical x-ray absorption energies, based primarily on the work of Siegbahn and derived using the 1950 values of the physical atomic constants, is given, with interpolation and extrapolations for elements between Z=3 and Z=100.
